Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

December 18, 2025

“Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion; and to you shall vows be performed, O you who answer prayer! To you all flesh shall come.”Psalm 65:1–2

Lord,

As this Advent night settles gently around me, I turn my heart toward You in quiet gratitude. You are the God who hears prayer, the One to whom all flesh shall come, and tonight I rest in that promise. In the stillness, I offer You the praises my soul has carried through this day—some spoken, some silent, all known fully by You.

As I reflect on the nearness of Your coming, joy rises within me like a soft and steady light. You receive every whisper of my heart, every longing and plea, with a compassion deeper than I can fathom. Even when my words falter, You understand the ache beneath them, and in Your mercy, You draw me closer to Your presence, reminding me that Your forgiveness and faithfulness surround me.

Tonight, I wait with hope, trusting that You are already working in the hidden places where I cannot yet see. Shape my spirit to receive the joy You desire to give, the joy that is born of Your listening love and steadfast care. As I rest beneath the quiet of this Advent evening, attune my heart to Your grace, that I may rise tomorrow ready to walk in Your peace.

Amen.

May the God who hears every prayer surround us with steadfast love and joyful hope as we rest in the peace of this Advent night.
