Praying the Scriptures

Friday Morning Prayer

December 19, 2025

“When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then it was said among the nations, ‘The LORD has done great things for them.’ The LORD has done great things for us, and we rejoiced.”Psalm 126:1–3

Lord,

When I rise this morning, I remember the wonders You have done—how You have restored what once seemed lost and brought joy where sorrow had settled in. Like the people who marveled when You brought Zion out of captivity, my own heart stirs with gratitude as I recall the moments when You turned my grief into laughter and my fear into trust. You have been faithful, and even before I see the fullness of Your promises, I rejoice in the memory of Your goodness.

As this Advent morning unfolds, I open my soul to the joy You are still working in me. I confess that there are places within me that feel dry or weary, yet I trust that You are already watering those places with hope. Teach me to wait with expectation, believing that the same God who restored His people long ago is restoring me now—shaping my spirit, renewing my strength, and lifting my eyes toward Your light.

Today, I embrace the promise that joy is not merely a feeling but a gift rooted in Your steadfast love. Let the works You have done fill my heart with confidence for what You will yet do. As I walk into this day, help me carry the song of Psalm 126 within me—a testimony that You, O Lord, do great things for Your people. May that truth settle deeply in me and shine through all I say and do.

Amen.

May the God who restores our joy and renews our strength guide us all into the light of His hope as we walk faithfully through this Advent day.
