Sunday Morning Prayer

December 21, 2025

“For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.’ We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven, while we were with him on the holy mountain.”2 Peter 1:17–18

O Majestic Glory,

On this morning of the solstice when the night has stretched to its uttermost length, I turn my face toward the promise of the returning light. As the earth hangs in the balance of the deep winter cold, I recall the witness of those who stood on the holy mountain, watching the veil between heaven and earth dissolve. I wait here in the quiet gray of dawn, not merely for the sun to rise, but for the spiritual radiance that shines in a dark place to illuminate the waiting world.

I listen for the echo of that voice borne from heaven, the testimony that shattered the silence to declare, "This is my Son, my Beloved, with whom I am well pleased." In this fourth week of Advent, as I meditate on the mystery of Love Incarnate, let that divine affirmation resonate within me. Let me hear the Father’s love for the Son as the foundation of all hope, a love that was honored in glory and is now descending to dwell in the humble manger of our human existence.

Though I was not on that mountain to hear the sound with earthly ears, I open my spirit to witness this truth anew as the shadows retreat. Grant that the morning star may rise in my heart, confirming the prophetic word that Love has conquered the darkness. As the days begin to lengthen and the light grows stronger, may my life reflect the honor and glory of the Beloved, bearing witness to the warmth of Your presence in a world waiting for its King.

Amen.

May the Morning Star rise within you, and the voice of Majestic Glory bless you with a Love that shines through the darkness to warm every soul you encounter.
