Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Evening Prayer
September 5, 2024
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7–8)
Gracious and Eternal God,
As the day draws to a close, I come before You in humble gratitude. I thank You for the strength You have granted me to face the challenges of this day, for Your guidance in every step I have taken, and for the assurance of Your presence, which has been my constant companion.
Lord, I reflect on the words of the Apostle Paul: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for His appearing."
In the quiet of this evening, I pray that You help me to remain steadfast in my faith, no matter the trials I may face. Strengthen my resolve to run the race set before me with endurance and courage, ever looking to You, the Author and Finisher of my faith.
May I always strive to fight the good fight of faith, not by my own strength but by Yours, O Lord. Help me to guard the truths You have entrusted to me, to live a life that reflects Your love and righteousness, and to encourage others in their walk with You.
As I lay down to rest tonight, grant me the peace that surpasses all understanding. May my heart be filled with the hope of the crown of righteousness that awaits those who are faithful to You. Keep me under the shadow of Your wings, and may I rise in the morning with renewed strength and a heart set on fulfilling Your will.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who is my hope and my salvation, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
