Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
December 14, 2025
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
Lord Jesus,
As this Gaudete Sunday comes to a close, I rest in the quiet joy of knowing that You—unchanging and steadfast—hold all my days in Your faithful hands. So much around me shifts and moves, but You remain the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that truth steadies my spirit tonight. I thank You for the joy that rises not from circumstance but from Your enduring presence, a joy that lights my heart even in the dim places where uncertainty tries to gather.
As I look back on this day, I am grateful for the mercies You have woven into it—small gifts, gentle reminders, unexpected moments of grace that point me again to Your constancy. You have walked with me through each hour, guiding me when I needed direction, comforting me when my thoughts grew restless, and lifting my spirit when weariness began to settle in. Tonight I release every unfinished task, every lingering worry, and every burden I have carried, trusting them into Your keeping because You do not change.
Now, as night wraps its stillness around me, I ask You to fill my heart with the deep, steady joy that comes from knowing You are forever faithful. Let Your unchanging love quiet my mind, soften my fears, and bring rest to my soul. Teach me to lean more fully into Your enduring truth as I prepare for a new day. Hold me close in this Advent waiting, and anchor me in the hope that never fades.
Amen.
May the unchanging Christ, who is our joy and our peace, watch over us all tonight and lead every heart into the hope and light of His coming.
