Praying the Scriptures

Monday Morning Prayer

December 15, 2025

“A voice cries out: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.’”Isaiah 40:3–4

Lord,

As this new Advent morning unfolds, I lift my heart to You with joy and gratitude, hearing again the ancient cry that echoes through the ages: “Prepare the way of the Lord.” I feel its call stirring within me, inviting me to look honestly at the wilderness places in my life—the dry stretches, the hidden fears, the weary terrain that waits for Your renewing touch. With quiet anticipation, I open myself to Your transforming presence, trusting that even now You are drawing near with comfort, strength, and joy.

Level the rough ground within me, O God, and make straight the crooked paths of my thoughts and desires. Lift up the low places where discouragement has settled, and bring down the mountains of pride or resistance that stand in the way of Your grace. As You shape and smooth my inner landscape, help me to walk in humility, hope, and readiness, preparing a clear and open way for Your coming. Let the work You do in me today reflect the joy of Advent—the joy of knowing that You are faithful, steadfast, and ever close.

Guide me, Lord, as I move through this day with a heart tuned to Your voice. Let every act of kindness, every word spoken in patience, every moment of quiet trust become part of the highway I prepare for You. Fill me with the deep, gentle joy that rises from the promise of Your nearness, and let that joy strengthen me to live with expectancy, gratitude, and courage. Come, Lord Jesus, and make Your way in me today.

Amen.

May the God who levels mountains and lifts valleys guide us all in joy and steadiness as we prepare the way of Christ in our hearts today.
