Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
December 20, 2025
“This is the one about whom it is written, ‘See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’” — Matthew 11:10
Lord,
As I rise into this Advent morning, my heart stirs with the promise of Your words—You have sent a messenger ahead of me to prepare the way. I marvel at Your faithfulness, that long before I take a single step, You are already at work clearing the path, softening my spirit, and calling me to listen. Let this day begin with a renewed openness in me, a readiness to receive Your guiding whisper in the quiet places of my soul.
I ask You to prepare my heart just as John prepared the way for Christ. Remove whatever hinders joy from taking root—worry, distraction, self-reliance—and create in me a spirit that welcomes Your presence with humility and expectation. As I move through the hours ahead, help me to notice the subtle ways You are shaping me, forming me, and readying me for deeper obedience and trust.
And as I wait for Your coming with hope, let the joy of Christ’s nearness brighten everything I do. Teach me to walk through this day with a spirit awakened to grace, a heart eager to serve, and eyes fixed on the One who is already at the door. May Advent joy rise within me like morning light, reminding me that You are near, preparing, healing, and leading me ever toward the fullness of Your love.
Amen.
May the joyful nearness of Christ guide our steps this day, filling every heart with grace, hope, and peace as we walk in the light of His coming.
