Praying the Scriptures
Monday Evening Prayer
September 16, 2024
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. You also are to testify because you have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:26–27)
Gracious and Eternal God,
As the day draws to a close and night settles in, we come before You in reverence and gratitude. We give thanks for Your Spirit, the Advocate, whom You have sent to guide and comfort us in truth. Just as Jesus promised, we feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, bearing witness to Your love and grace.
Lord, remind us of our calling to testify to the work of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Strengthen us with courage, so that in both our words and actions, we may faithfully bear witness to Your light in this world. Let our lives reflect the truth and love of Christ, even in the quiet moments, when no one is watching but You.
As we prepare for rest, we ask You to fill our hearts with peace, knowing that Your Spirit dwells within us, guiding us in truth and love. May we awaken refreshed, ready to continue our witness in all that we do, always mindful of the Advocate who walks beside us.
In the name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen.
