Praying the Scriptures

Monday Evening Prayer

September 23, 2024

Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.” (Ephesians 4:8)

Heavenly Father,

As we gather in the quiet of this evening, we give thanks for Your boundless generosity. You, O Lord, ascended on high and claimed victory over all that binds us, setting us free to walk in the light of Your love.

With humble hearts, we acknowledge the gifts You have bestowed upon us—gifts of grace, mercy, and calling. Help us to use these gifts not for our own gain, but to serve others and to build up the body of Christ.

As night falls, grant us peace and a restful sleep, secure in the knowledge that we are liberated and loved by You. Let us awake refreshed, ready to continue the work You have laid out for us, spreading Your love and truth to all corners of the earth.

Protect us through the night, Lord, and stir in us a constant remembrance of Your victory over captivity, reminding us that in every moment, You are with us, guiding and gifting us for Your glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, we pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and reflection to your evening.
