Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

September 14, 2024

But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more. (Jeremiah 31:33–34)

Gracious and Loving God,

As the day draws to a close and the quiet of the evening settles around us, we turn to You with hearts open to Your presence. We thank You for the covenant You have written upon our hearts, the promise of Your steadfast love and guidance. You have made Yourself known to us, not through the words of others, but by engraving Your law deep within us. We no longer need to search far to find You, for You dwell within us.

Lord, we seek Your forgiveness for the ways we have fallen short today. You promised that You will remember our sins no more, and we humbly place our mistakes and burdens before You, trusting in Your mercy. Help us to release the weight of guilt and shame, knowing that Your grace covers us.

Guide us in the days ahead to live as people shaped by Your love. May Your presence lead us in our thoughts, words, and actions. Teach us to love as You love, to forgive as You forgive, and to walk in Your ways all the days of our lives.

As we rest tonight, surround us with Your peace. Let our hearts be comforted by the knowledge that You are with us that You are our God, and that we are Your people.

In Your holy name, we pray

Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and comfort to your evening.
