Evening Prayer for Saturday, September 21, 2024

Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

September 21, 2024

On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:37–38)

Heavenly Father,

As the day closes and the quiet of night settles upon us, we come before You with hearts open and spirits thirsty. In the stillness of this evening, we remember the words of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'"

Lord, we acknowledge our deep need for You. Our souls thirst for Your living water, the only source that can quench our deepest longings and wash away our weariness. As we drink from Your eternal well, let Your Holy Spirit fill us afresh so that from our hearts may flow rivers of Your love, peace, and grace to those around us.

In the quiet moments of this night, wash over us with Your presence. Renew our spirits, calm our minds, and restore our bodies. Let the peace of Your flowing waters carry us into a restful sleep and prepare us for the day to come.

We trust in You, Lord, and in Your everlasting waters that bring life to all who believe. Keep us close to You always, and let Your will be done in our lives.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and comfort to your evening.
