Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

September 4, 2024

He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:5–7)

Gracious and Loving God,

As the day draws to a close and the evening shadows lengthen, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and humility. We thank You for Your mercy, which has saved us not because of any righteous deeds we have done, but solely because of Your great love and grace. You have washed us in the waters of rebirth and renewed us by the Holy Spirit, whom You have generously poured out upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Lord, help us to rest in the assurance of Your grace this evening. May we be reminded that we are justified by Your grace and made heirs to the hope of eternal life. Fill our hearts with peace, knowing that Your love for us is unending and that You guide us always on the path of righteousness.

As we lay down to rest, we entrust our lives to Your care. May Your Holy Spirit renew us as we sleep, preparing us for the day ahead. Grant us a restful night, free from anxiety and filled with Your peace. Help us to awaken tomorrow with renewed strength and a steadfast spirit to serve You in all that we do.

We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
