Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

September 18, 2024

And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, each of the gates is a single pearl, and the street of the city is pure gold, transparent as glass. I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. (Revelation 21:21–23)

Heavenly Father,

As the night enfolds us in its quiet, we come before You, inspired by the vision of Your holy city, where the streets gleam like gold transparent as glass and Your glory illuminates every corner.

In the stillness of this evening, let the light of Your presence be the lamp that guides our hearts. Shine within us, Lord, so that the darkness of this world cannot overpower us. May the radiance of Your love reflect in our actions and in our thoughts.

Lord, we thank You for being our eternal light, for in Your light, we see light. Just as the city needs no sun nor moon to shine on it, for Your glory gives it light, illuminate our paths, and guide us through the uncertainties of this life with Your unending grace and mercy.

Comfort those who feel lost in the shadows of despair, and uplift those burdened by sorrow. May Your presence be a beacon of hope and peace, leading us ever closer to You.

As we rest this night, secure us in Your peace and guard us with Your love, for You are our lamp, and in Your light, we find our joy and our hope.

In the name of Jesus, the Light of the World, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
