Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Morning Prayer

September 18, 2024

And the twelve gates are twelve pearls, each of the gates is a single pearl, and the street of the city is pure gold, transparent as glass. I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. (Revelation 21:21–23)

Heavenly Father,

In the splendor of Your majesty, we begin this day in awe of Your magnificent creation. As Revelation 21 tells us, the great street of Your holy city, Jerusalem, is pure gold, like transparent glass, and Your glory illuminates it. The sun and the moon are no longer needed, for Your glory provides all the light we need.

Lord, we thank You for the promise of this heavenly city, where You Yourself are its light. Inspire us today to walk in this light, to live in the hope and joy of Your eternal presence. Help us reflect Your brightness in our thoughts, our actions, and our words. May we be bearers of this light in a world that so often walks in darkness.

As we go about our day, let us be mindful of Your kingdom that awaits us, where gates of pearl stand open, and streets of gold signify Your purity and perfection. Let our hearts be open gates, welcoming and warm to all we meet. Let our paths be paths of righteousness, marked by Your golden love and grace.

Bless our endeavors, protect us from harm, and guide us by Your Holy Spirit. May we seek to serve You in all we do, carrying the hope of Your heavenly city in our hearts, until the day we see You face to face.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you strength and encouragement as you go about your day!
