Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

September 25, 2024

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.… And the one who was seated on the throne said, “See, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:1, 5)

Heavenly Father,

As night unfolds its serene shroud over the world, we gather in gratitude under Your protective watch. We are reminded, Lord, by Your words in Revelation, that You are the architect of all beginnings and the promise of all renewals: “I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.”

In the stillness of this evening, we seek the comfort of Your eternal promise. Let us be attuned to the truth that You are making all things new, not just in the grand canvas of Your creation but also in the intimate corners of our lives. As we lay down our burdens from the day, instill in us a renewed spirit and a heart eager for the coming of Your new creation.

Lord, who spoke and said, “Behold, I am making all things new,” breathe into us the courage to let go of past grievances. Help us to forgive as we seek forgiveness, to love as we are loved by You, and to tread gently on this earth that You are renewing.

Grant us peace tonight, O God, and a hopeful awakening to Your new mercies with the dawn. May our rest be filled with the dreams of Your righteous kingdom, where every tear is wiped away, and sorrow is no more.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
