Thursday Morning Prayer

September 12, 2024

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birth pangs. … And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations. … And you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. (Mark 13:7–8,10, 13)

Heavenly Father,

As the sun rises on this new day, we come before You with hearts open to Your word and Your will. You have told us through Your Son, Jesus Christ, not to be alarmed when we hear of wars and rumors of wars, for these things must take place, but the end is still to come. Nations will rise against nations, and kingdoms against kingdoms. There will be earthquakes in various places and famines. Yet, these are but the beginnings of birth pangs.

Lord, amidst the turmoil and unrest in the world around us, help us to remain steadfast in our faith. Strengthen us to be witnesses to Your love and truth, proclaiming the gospel to all nations as You have commanded. Let Your peace reign in our hearts, even when the world is filled with fear and uncertainty.

We remember Your promise that those who endure to the end will be saved. Grant us the courage to stand firm in the face of trials, trusting that You are with us always. May we not be swayed by fear or despair, but instead, may we hold fast to Your unchanging hand.

Guide our steps today, O Lord, that we may walk in Your light and be bearers of Your hope and love to those we encounter. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may speak words of comfort, offer acts of kindness, and live lives that reflect Your grace.

In Your holy name, we pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
