Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

October 3, 2024

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. (2 Corinthians 5:18–19)

Heavenly Father,

We come before You this Thursday evening, hearts open and spirits willing, seeking the comfort of Your presence. We thank You, Lord, for the ministry of reconciliation that You have entrusted to us, as proclaimed in Your Word through 2 Corinthians 5:18–19. You have reconciled us to Yourself through Christ and given us the sacred task of reconciling others.

Help us, O God, to embody the message of reconciliation in every word we speak and in every action we take. Let us be ambassadors for Christ, showing the world Your love and extending forgiveness as freely as You have forgiven us. May we not count the trespasses of others against them but instead bring the hope of redemption through our actions and words.

Grant us the wisdom to navigate the challenges we face, with the knowledge that in Christ, You are making all things new—turning discord into harmony and estrangement into fellowship. Strengthen us to carry this message into our homes, our workplaces, and our communities.

As the night draws in and we reflect on the day past, we ask for Your peace to reign in our hearts. Renew us in our commitment to serve You and to be vessels of Your grace and truth.

In Jesus’ name, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort as you end your day.
