Morning Devotions with Cap'n Kenny - Safe Refuge

Oh Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; Save me from all my pursuers and deliver me.
~ Psalm 7:1 (ESV)

The home we recently purchased backs to a forest. There is a birdhouse at the back of the lot.

As we were working inside our home to make it our nest, we noticed a squirrel with small twigs in its mouth walking along the top of the property line fence that has a top row of barbed wire. It very carefully walked over the barbs to the birdhouse and placed the twigs inside. It walked back and forth with its small twigs. Eventually the squirrel was finished. It had a home in the birdhouse and its nest was completed.

It is a safe home that has a buffet of food close by including the bird feeder we put up for the cardinals. Birds sit on the rooftop and it fears not. It is protected from the wind and rainstorms. The birdhouse is its refuge. It is contented, safe, and happy.

Our God is our refuge from the barbed wire as we walk our path of life. He protects us, sustains us, and provides wisdom to us when challenges confront us. Praise Him today for His faithfulness to you.
Lord God thank you for your protection and allowing us to take refuge under the shadow of your wings. Amen.
In Jesus,
Cap'n Kenny
