Morning Devotions with Chaplain Kenny - Heed the Call

Heed the Call

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
~ Ephesians 4:1 (NIV)

Paul wrote Ephesians 4:1 from a jail cell. One of the most prolific and influential writers in the history of mankind considered it a privilege to pen these words in the place God called him to be—prison.

What an example for us as parents to recognize our place in God’s kingdom. It may not be the status you imagined. It may have some frustrations you could live without. It may not be what you planned, but God chose it for you. Do you see it as a worthy place? Do you fight it or accept it?

Paul says we are urged and must give an all-out effort to please God through our life calling. As parents we can please God by raising our children to honor him. We must seek his continued blessing and support as we celebrate or struggle through our calling. Our children are watching how we accept this life of worth set before us. If we do well, they learn well. If we give up, it’s likely they will follow.

Be content in your place today and heed the call.

In Jesus,
Chaplain Kenny
