John 10:14-15
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.Isaiah describes the great deliverance of the Lord in Is. 40:11 as a joyous event—wonderful news of the love and tenderness of God as He restores His people. As a fulfillment of this, Jesus referred to Himself as the Shepherd of God’s people. The New Testament writers also saw Jesus as their Shepherd. And Revelation 7:17 confirms that He is both God’s Lamb and our Shepherd. God is our loving Shepherd, ready and eager to rescue us from the vicious enemies and troubles that would otherwise overwhelm us.
