Verse of the Day
Monday, February 8, 2021

Matthew 5:43-45
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
It is not up to us to settle accounts and to avenge what we see as injustices. Often, we do not have all the facts, and we may not understand everything that is going on in the situation. Since God knows everything, He says, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay” (Rom. 12:19). Until then, Jesus admonishes us, “Do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also…I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matt. 5:39, 44).
