Deuteronomy 6:6-7
And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.Although Joshua and the Israelites who had conquered the Promised Land had been faithful, they failed to pass on their faith to the generations after them as God had commanded (Deut. 6). There is no such thing as inheriting faith. Each person and generation must come to know God personally and make their faith their own.
