Romans 13:8
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
Not “never incur a debt” but “make sure that you pay debts you incur on time.” There is one debt Christians will never discharge: the debt to love. As often in the NT, the focus is on the obligation Christians have toward “one another” (fellow believers; cf. Gal 6:10). But believers are also called to love all people (Ro. 12:9–21).
