“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”Peter quotes Isaiah to remind believers of the great gift Christ has given us: “He was pierced for our transgressions…and by his wounds we are healed” (Is. 53:5). On the Cross, Jesus paid the sin debt of every person who ever lived. And the moment we accept Him as our personal Savior, His provision is applied to our life—the full penalty of our transgressions removed forevermore.
