1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.It was there on the mercy seat, between the two angels, above the ark of the covenant, that God showed His shekinah—His glorious presence—by mercifully forgiving the sin of the people. One day a year, God met with the high priest and spoke with him, and the high priest had the privilege of worshiping God and finding guidance (Lev. 16). Now we have Jesus as our perfect High Priest, who ushers us into the presence of God—not once a year, but every moment of every day (John 20:12; Heb. 2:17; 4:14–16; 9:23–28; 10:19–23; 1 John 2:2; 4:10). Our intimacy with God is His highest priority for our lives.
