In the Wobble of Time
Before the mountains were brought forth … from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2
Reflection

In the breathtaking expanse of the universe, our Earth, a tiny speck in the grand scheme, experiences subtle yet profound changes. Recent scientific studies have unveiled a fascinating phenomenon: our planet is wobbling and spinning faster than before. This accelerated rotation has led to discussions about a 'drop second' — an extraordinary concept of removing a second from global timekeeping.

As we ponder this scientific revelation, we are reminded of the words of Moses in Psalm 90:2. This verse draws our attention to the eternal nature of God, who exists beyond the bounds of time and creation. Before the mountains were formed, before the Earth began its dance around the sun, God was — and is, and will be.

This concept of God's eternality stands in stark contrast to the ever-changing nature of our world. The 'wobble' of the Earth is a metaphor for the uncertainties and fluctuations in our own lives. We experience shifts and changes, moments that speed up and slow down, times that feel out of balance.

Yet, in the midst of these earthly oscillations, we have a steadfast anchor in God. His eternal nature assures us that He is not swayed by the passing of time or the spinning of the Earth. In a world where a second might be dropped from time, God remains constant.

Application

As we face the unpredictability of life, let us find solace in the unchangeable nature of God. The same God who existed before the mountains and who holds the universe in His hands is intimately involved in our lives. He is our steady foundation when everything else seems to be in flux.

Today, let us reflect on the areas of our lives that feel unstable or rapidly changing. In these moments, remember that God's eternal presence offers peace and stability. Trust in Him, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Conclusion

In our quest to deepen our understanding of God and the magnificent world He has crafted, we will uncover the ways in which He impeccably orchestrates time and everything within His creation. God proves to be a reliable guardian for every uncertainty and new revelation in our lives. The entirety of creation is safely cradled in the compassionate embrace of God.

Prayer

Eternal God, before the mountains were formed, You were God. In a world that is constantly changing, help us to find our stability and peace in You. Remind us that, though the Earth may wobble and time may shift, Your love and presence remain constant. Guide us to trust in Your eternal nature amidst our temporal lives. Amen.
