The Morning Prayer for Sunday, March 10, 2024

The Morning Prayer
Sunday, March 10, 2024
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10–11
Heavenly Father, Creator of all, as we gather on this Fourth Sunday in Lent, we turn our hearts and minds towards Your word, as declared in Isaiah 55:10-11. Just as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, so is Your word that goes out from Your mouth; it shall not return to You empty, but shall accomplish that which You purpose, and succeed in the thing for which You sent it.

Lord, in this Lenten season, let Your word be like rain for our souls, nourishing and rejuvenating. May it deeply penetrate our hearts, cultivating in us a rich soil for the growth of Your virtues – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Grant us the grace to understand and embrace Your teachings, allowing them to shape our lives and actions. May Your promises and truths be the seeds that take root within us, flourishing into acts of kindness, compassion, and love towards others.

As the earth blossoms after the rain, let our faith blossom in response to Your word. Help us to trust in Your divine plan, knowing that Your purposes are always for our good and the good of the world.

In this time of reflection and repentance, cleanse our hearts and minds, making them fertile ground for Your transformative word. Guide us in Your ways, and help us to live out Your will in our daily lives.

Bless our community and all those who seek You during this Lenten journey. May we support and uplift each other, drawing closer to You and to one another in faith and fellowship.

We thank You for the gift of Your word, a guiding light in our lives. May we cherish it, learn from it, and allow it to guide our paths.

In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
