Psalm 91:1
You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91 is a profound chapter in the Book of Psalms, often referred to as the "Psalm of Protection." It is a cherished scripture, particularly in times of trouble, offering comfort and reassurance of God’s protection. The psalm is traditionally attributed to Moses, though some scholars believe it may have been written by David. Its powerful imagery and promises of safety under God's wings make it a cornerstone of faith for many believers.

Psalm 91:1 sets the tone for the entire psalm, highlighting the security and peace found in God's presence. The verse begins with an invitation to dwell in the "shelter of the Most High," suggesting a place of refuge and safety. The term "Most High" is one of the many names for God, emphasizing His supreme authority and power over all things.

The phrase "abide in the shadow of the Almighty" conveys a sense of closeness and intimacy with God. To "abide" means to remain, to stay continually, indicating a sustained relationship rather than a fleeting encounter. The "shadow of the Almighty" symbolizes protection and comfort, much like the shade provided by a large tree on a hot day.
