Age Is But a Number
Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. (Exodus 7:7)
Introduction
Exodus 7:7 states, "Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh." This verse serves as a powerful reminder that God can use us at any stage of our lives for His divine purposes. Recently, two grandmothers from Texas, aged eighty-one, captured the world's attention by completing a remarkable journey around the globe in eighty days. Their inspiring story echoes the biblical narrative of Moses and Aaron, reminding us that age is no barrier to achieving great things through faith and determination. Starting in Antarctica, they tangoed in Argentina, rode camels in Egypt, took a sleigh ride at the North Pole, and visited eighteen countries, including Zambia, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Japan, and Italy, ending their trip in Australia. The duo hoped to inspire future generations to enjoy traveling the world, regardless of their age.
Reflection
In the story of Exodus, Moses and Aaron were called by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, a monumental task given to them in their advanced years. Their story demonstrates that God’s calling does not diminish with age. Similarly, the two grandmothers from Texas embarked on an adventure that defied societal expectations. Their journey around the world at the age of eighty-one is a testament to the human spirit and the boundless possibilities that await us when we step out in faith.
Moses and Aaron’s leadership and courage, despite their age, teach us that God’s purposes can be fulfilled through us, no matter how old we are. The grandmothers’ adventure around the globe is a modern-day reflection of this truth. Their accomplishment shows that age should not be a limitation but rather an invitation to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
Application
Consider the areas in your life where you feel constrained by age, whether you believe you are too young or too old. Reflect on the examples of Moses, Aaron, and the adventurous grandmothers. What dreams or callings have you set aside because you thought it was too late?
God’s plans for us are not limited by our age. He calls us to serve, to lead, and to explore new horizons regardless of our stage in life. Whether it’s starting a new ministry, learning a new skill, or embarking on a new adventure, trust that God is with you and will equip you for the journey.
Conclusion
The stories of Moses, Aaron, and the intrepid grandmothers from Texas inspire us to look beyond our limitations and embrace the possibilities that God places before us. Age is not a barrier in God’s kingdom; it is an opportunity for us to witness His power and grace in new and exciting ways. Let us be encouraged to step out in faith, knowing that with God, all things are possible.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the examples of Moses, Aaron, and the two grandmothers who remind us that age is no obstacle to Your plans. Help us to embrace the callings You place on our hearts, regardless of our age. Give us the courage to step out in faith and pursue the dreams and tasks You have set before us. May we always remember that with You, all things are possible. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
