Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Evening Prayer

September 1, 2024

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Gracious and loving God,

As the day draws to a close and the evening stillness settles around us, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and hope. We thank You for the gift of this day and for the countless ways You have revealed Your presence to us.

Lord, Your Word reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that "if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new." We come before You, acknowledging that in You, we are made new. The old ways, the burdens of our past, and the mistakes that once held us captive are now behind us. In Your grace, we find new beginnings and the promise of transformation.

As we lay down the cares of this day, we ask for Your renewing Spirit to fill us once again. Help us to let go of the old and embrace the new life You offer in Christ. May we walk forward in faith, confident that in You, all things are being made new.

Guide our hearts and minds as we rest tonight. Grant us peaceful sleep and dreams filled with Your peace. As we prepare for a new week, may we rise with the dawn, ready to live as the new creations You have called us to be.

We trust in Your love, Lord, and surrender all to You, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for us. Thank You for making us new and for the hope that we have in Christ.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray.

Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
