Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
October 27, 2024
We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. (2 Corinthians 4:8–10)
Gracious and Almighty God,
As the sun sets over the horizon this tranquil October evening, I come before You, feeling the weight of my daily trials yet buoyed by the unshakeable faith that You are ever by my side. "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed."
In my moments of challenge, when the path ahead seems obscured by shadows, remind me of Your constant presence that surrounds and fills me. Let this twilight be a testament to the hope that lingers even as daylight fades, for Your love illuminates the darkest of times.
Teach me, O Lord, to carry in my body the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in me. In my suffering, let there be resilience; in my doubts, a steadfast faith; and in my fears, the peace that surpasses all understanding.
As the stars begin to pierce the evening sky, let Your wisdom guide me. Help me to see that every hardship is an opportunity to reveal Your glory, for just as You raise the moon, You also raise my spirit.
Bless all those who struggle, those who feel the burden of affliction. May they find in You, as I do now, their comfort and strength. With a grateful heart, I thank You for the assurance that, though we may be pressed, we are never crushed; though we may feel lost, we are never abandoned.
In Your holy and enduring name, I pray,
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
