Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Evening Prayer

October 6, 2024

Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them. (John 17:25–26)

Heavenly Father,

As the quiet hues of October dusk wrap the earth, we gather in Your presence, hearts open and spirits yearning for Your peace. Your Son, our Savior, revealed to us Your name, that name which echoes through the ages as the source of all love and truth.

O Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, we have come to know that You have sent Jesus to bind us in love. As the leaves turn from green to vibrant shades of orange, red, and gold, let these changes remind us of the transformation You inspire in our hearts.

Pour out Your spirit upon us, that we may feel Your love deeply and intimately, just as Jesus loved us and revealed that love in every word and deed. Help us to embody that love, sharing it generously with those who walk in darkness, that Your truth may illuminate their paths.

May the fellowship of Your Spirit unite us, and the love of Christ enfold us as we move towards the week ahead. Strengthen us to carry forth this divine love into every corner of our lives.

In the name of Jesus Christ, who makes all things new, we pray,

Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
