Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Evening Prayer
November 21, 2024
Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:17–18)
O Holy God,
As the sun sets over the mesas and the chill of November whispers through New Mexico, I come before You in humble supplication.
Arm me, Lord, with the helmet of salvation, that I may hold fast to the hope of Your promises. Grant me the sword of the Spirit, which is Your word, a steadfast light upon my path in the encroaching dusk. Let these divine gifts defend my spirit against the shadows that seek to trouble my peace.
In every prayer and supplication, help me to stay alert and persevere. Guide me to pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. Let my prayers rise like the gentle evening breezes, touching the lives of all Your saints. May I intercede for them with the same passion Christ showed for us, a beacon of love and sacrifice.
As the stars begin to blanket the sky, remind me of Your constant presence, O God. With every breath, may I draw closer to You, clad in the armor of Your Word and fortified by Your Spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who guides and sustains us,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort as you end your day.
