Praying the Scriptures

Monday Evening Prayer

February 24, 2025

For I am the LORD your God, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—the Lord of hosts is his name. I have put my words in your mouth, and hidden you in the shadow of my hand, stretching out the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, “You are my people.” (Isaiah 51:15-16)

Heavenly Father,

As the sun sets behind the peak of Red Mountain, painting the sky with hues of amber and violet, I pause in the stillness of this desert evening to lift my heart to You. The cool air carries whispers of Your presence, reminding me that You are the Lord my God, the One who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar, the One who commands all creation with power and majesty.

You have placed Your words in my mouth and sheltered me in the shadow of Your hand. Beneath the vast expanse of these southwestern skies, I marvel at Your greatness. You stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, and yet You draw near to me, speaking words of comfort and calling me Your own.

As the wind moves through the mesquite and the stars begin to pierce the darkness, let my soul find rest in You. In the quiet of this desert night, write Your truth upon my heart. Strengthen me to walk in faith, to speak Your words with boldness, and to trust in the shelter of Your hand.

Lord, I surrender this day to You—its burdens and blessings, its struggles and joys. May Your peace settle over this land, over my home, and over my heart. Keep watch through the night, and as I lay down to rest, let me dwell securely in the promise of Your unfailing love.

In the name of Jesus, my Redeemer and my Rock, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring solace and inspiration as you end your day in reflection and peace.
