Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
March 29, 2025
Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name. When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them. With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation. (Psalm 91:14-16)
O Lord,
As the desert sun dips below the rugged peaks of the Florida Mountains, I lift my heart to You in thanksgiving. The warmth of the day fades, and the cool embrace of night settles upon this land You have created. The stars begin their watch, ancient sentinels of Your faithfulness, and I find my refuge beneath the vast expanse of Your heavens.
Because I hold fast to You in love, You have promised deliverance. You know my name, O Lord, and in the stillness of this evening, I call upon Yours. When I have wandered through life's wilderness, You have answered. When my strength has faltered, You have lifted me up. Your presence has been my shelter, my strong tower against the trials that rise like desert storms.
As the wind whispers through the mesquite and the night creatures stir, I trust in Your protection. You have promised to be with me in trouble, to rescue and honor me. In this sacred quiet, I feel the weight of Your mercy and the lightness of Your grace. You satisfy me with life, not measured in years alone, but in the fullness of Your love. And when my journey is done, You will show me Your salvation, leading me home to the place prepared in Your everlasting embrace.
Watch over me this night, O Lord. Let Your angels stand guard as I rest, and may my dreams be filled with the peace that only You can give. In Your name, I place my trust, now and forever.
Amen.
May the Lord, who shelters you beneath His wings, watch over your rest this night, filling your heart with peace and your spirit with the promise of His unfailing love.
