Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

April 2, 2025

Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and those who live on it will die like gnats; but my salvation will be forever, and my deliverance will never be ended. (Isaiah 51:6)

Heavenly Father,

As the sun sets over the rugged beauty of the mountains, painting the desert sky with hues of orange and violet, I pause in the stillness of this spring evening to lift my heart to You. The warm breeze carries the scent of blooming mesquite, and the hush of twilight settles upon the land You have shaped with Your mighty hand.

Your Word reminds me, Lord, that the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its inhabitants will die like flies; but Your salvation will be forever, and Your deliverance will never be ended.

In the shifting sands and the fleeting days, I find comfort in Your unchanging truth. Though the desert wind erodes the rock and time weathers the earth, Your love and salvation endure beyond all decay. You are the Everlasting One, my refuge in a world of passing things.

Tonight, as the stars begin to shimmer in the vast New Mexico sky, I surrender my worries into Your hands. The coyotes call in the distance, and the stillness of the desert reminds me to trust in You—to place my hope not in the things that fade, but in the promise that stands forever.

Let me rest in Your peace, O Lord. Let my soul be rooted in the salvation You have secured. Guard my heart through the night, and when the dawn breaks over the mountains once more, may I rise with renewed faith to walk in Your ways.

In the name of Jesus, my Savior, whose love never fades, I pray.

Amen.

May the steadfast love of the Lord, which endures forever, guard your heart this night, filling your rest with peace, your dreams with joy, and your soul with the unshakable truth of His faithfulness.
