Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

May 10, 2025

O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad. (Psalm 14:7)

Gracious Redeemer,

As the sun dips behind Red Mountain and the sky burns with hues of gold and rose, I lift my eyes toward Zion. I feel the hush of spring evening wrap around me like a promise—of new life, of healing, of joy yet to come.

Lord, I join the ancient cry: “O that deliverance would come!” For our world, our nation, our community, and even my own weary heart—we long for Your restoration. The creosote bush blossoms after the rain, and so too do I wait for the rains of Your mercy.

Restore the fortunes of Your people, O God—not just in silver or sustenance, but in spirit, in joy, in love. Let Jacob rejoice once more; let the forgotten dance in gladness again. Let Your justice rise like moonlight over the desert plains and Your grace run like water in dry riverbeds.

Tonight, I rest in the hope of Your coming deliverance. And even as I wait, I give thanks—because You have never forsaken us.

Amen.

May the Lord, who restores the fortunes of His people, grant you rest this night and awaken you with joy at the dawn of His redeeming light.
