Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

May 22, 2025

I will tell of your name to my brothers and sisters; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you. (Psalm 22:22)

Gracious Lord,

As the sun slips behind Red Mountain and the desert begins to cool beneath a sky brushed with fading gold, I quiet my soul before You. In this tranquil hour, I remember Your faithfulness and mercy, and I am stirred to praise You—not in solitude only, but with the whole community of the faithful.

You have brought me through valleys of sorrow and lifted me from places of despair. Just as the psalmist declared, "I will tell of your name to my brothers and sisters; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you," so do I now lift Your name with gratitude and awe. You have not hidden Your face from me, and in my cries, You listened.

Let my life, Lord, be a living testimony—a song that rises with the desert wind, echoing through the arroyos and over the creosote-covered plains, reaching every heart that longs for Your presence. May my words, my witness, and my worship awaken others to Your goodness.

As twilight deepens and the stars take their places in the wide New Mexico sky, I rest in the assurance that You dwell among Your people. In joy and in sorrow, in shadow and in light, You are worthy to be praised.

Amen.

May the God who hears our cries and fills our hearts with praise watch over us through the night and awaken us with renewed joy in His presence.
