Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
July 2, 2025
I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness. When you walk, your step will not be hampered; and if you run, you will not stumble. (Proverbs 4:11–12)
Gracious God,
As the sun sinks behind Red Mountain and paints the desert sky in strokes of crimson and gold, I pause in the stillness of this evening to walk once more in the path You’ve set before me. The warm earth beneath my feet and the hush of twilight remind me that You are near—that You have taught me the way of wisdom and guided me through winding roads I once feared to travel.
Lord, in this quiet moment, I give thanks for the freedom I enjoy—not only as a citizen of this land, but as one who walks upright in the light of Your truth. As our nation prepares to celebrate its Independence Day, I am mindful that true liberty is not found in laws or flags alone, but in the daily choosing of what is right, just, and merciful.
You have led me where my steps are not hampered, and even when I run—through hard seasons or hurried days—You steady my path and keep me from falling. Let me never take for granted the gift of Your guidance, nor the hard-won freedom of conscience that allows me to worship You openly, speak truthfully, and love without fear.
As night folds gently over the desert, may Your wisdom remain the compass of my heart. Keep me humble in the ways I walk, courageous in the words I speak, and faithful in the life I live.
Amen.
May the wisdom of the Lord light your path, and may His peace rest upon you through the night and into the dawning of new freedom.
