Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Morning Prayer

July 19, 2025

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9–10)

Lord Jesus,

The sun is rising now—slow and sure—casting gold across the ridge of the Florida Mountains. Shadows retreat across the desert floor, and with them, I lay down the burden of yesterday’s striving. The air is still cool, touched with the scent of creosote, and I breathe it in like a benediction.

I come to You this morning not in strength, but in surrender. I am tired in places no one sees. Yet here in the hush of dawn, You remind me: Your grace is sufficient. Your power is not displayed through my perfection but through the cracks—through every falter, every place I cannot hold myself together.

So I will not despise my weakness. I will not hide it away like something shameful. If it draws me nearer to You, if it becomes a vessel for Your power, then let it be. I welcome the mystery of this strange strength that grows in the soil of brokenness.

Out here in this wide, quiet place, there is no noise to distract me, no crowd to impress—only You, only grace. I feel Your presence settle on me like morning light, warm and undeserved. And I find, again, that it is enough. You are enough.

Strengthen me with Your strength, Lord—not the kind that conquers, but the kind that endures. Let Your power dwell in me today, quietly but surely, like the sun rising behind these mountains.

Amen.

May the quiet strength of Christ go with you today, filling every weakness with His perfect grace and peace.
