Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
July 5, 2025
We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. (Romans 8:22–24a)
Gracious Lord,
As the first light spills over the Florida Mountains, I breathe in the stillness of this desert morning. The sand at my feet is cool, the creosote whispers in the breeze, and the rooftops of Deming glow gold beneath the widening sky. Even the mourning doves seem to pause in reverence for the day You are making.
In this sacred hush, I feel creation’s longing—the quiet ache of the earth and my own heart groaning for redemption. The desert sings it softly: a hope that strains toward what it cannot yet see. I, too, wait—bearing the first fruits of the Spirit, yet yearning for fullness, for healing, for the adoption You have promised.
Thank You for this hope that anchors me in every season of waiting. As the sun rises higher, give me strength to walk in faith, even when the path is steep or uncertain. Open my eyes to grace in small things—a word spoken in kindness, a breeze through an open window, the steadfast rhythm of Your presence.
Let my day be marked not by striving, but by trust. For in hope I was saved—and in that hope I rise with You this morning.
Amen.
May the God of hope fill you with quiet strength and steadfast joy as you walk through this day, carried by the promise of redemption yet to come.
