Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
September 14, 2025
This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another, or say to each other, “Know the LORD,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and remember their sin no more. (Jeremiah 31:33–34)
Lord God,
As the light fades and the quiet of evening settles over the earth, I rest in the promise You have spoken: “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Tonight, I cling to this covenant of grace, not etched on stone but inscribed deep within me through the cross of Christ.
I thank You that in Jesus’ sacrifice, my sins are forgiven, remembered no more. The burdens of this day, the failings I cannot erase, are all gathered up and nailed to the cross. In this holy exchange, I receive mercy, freedom, and the gift of knowing You as my Lord.
As shadows lengthen and silence surrounds me, let Your Spirit renew my heart. Shape me in Your truth, and teach me to walk each day in trust, compassion, and faith. May Your covenant love be my guide in every thought, every word, and every act.
Tonight I rest in the assurance that You are near—that I know You, and You know me. Keep me in Your peace, and awaken me tomorrow to live again under the sign of the cross, with hope made new.
Through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, sealed by the cross and written upon your heart, guard your rest this night and guide your steps in the light of His mercy.
