Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
December 5, 2025
“The kingship and dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High; their kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey them.” — Daniel 7:27
Lord Jesus,
As this Advent evening settles gently around me, I quiet my heart in Your presence. The day’s busyness fades, and in the soft hush of night I lift my eyes toward the promise You have spoken—that Your kingdom is everlasting and that all dominions shall one day bow before Your holy reign. I rest in that truth tonight, letting its hope settle into my spirit.
I thank You for the mercies You have shown me today—seen and unseen, large and small. As I lay everything down, I release the worries I carried, the conversations that linger in my thoughts, and the tasks left unfinished. I entrust them all to You, confident that Your sovereignty extends over every corner of my life. Your dominion brings peace, and Your kingship carries a beauty this world cannot give.
In the quiet of this Advent night, I find myself longing for the fullness of Your kingdom. I yearn for the day when all creation will be restored, when justice will roll down, and when every heart will know the warmth of Your eternal light. Until that day comes, strengthen me to wait with patience, to hope with courage, and to walk faithfully in the ways of Your peace.
Let Your promised kingdom take root in me even now. Shape my desires, purify my thoughts, and align my will with Yours so that I may live as one belonging to Your holy people. As Daniel saw in his vision, all greatness and authority belong to You, and I long to dwell within the shelter of Your everlasting dominion.
As I prepare to rest, still my mind, calm my breath, and cradle my heart in Your abiding love. Let this night be a quiet offering to You—an act of trust in the One who holds all things and is bringing all things to their perfect completion in Himself.
Come, Lord Jesus. In the waiting, in the watching, and in the quiet expectancy of this Advent night, I rest in Your promised kingdom and find my peace in You.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ’s coming kingdom rest upon us all tonight, guiding our hearts with hope, our steps with faith, and our waiting with quiet joy.
