Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

December 11, 2025

“Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge. I say to the LORD, ‘You are my LORD; I have no good apart from you.’”Psalm 16:1–2

Lord,

As this Advent night settles quietly around me, I rest my heart in Your refuge. In the dim stillness, where my breath slows and the world grows soft, I whisper again that You are my Lord and that every good thing in my life flows from Your hand.

Keep me close as darkness deepens and the waiting of this holy season stretches before me. When worries stir like wind outside my window and shadows lengthen across the room, draw me back into the shelter of Your presence. Teach me to surrender what I can’t hold and to trust what You alone can heal.

I lean into Your nearness tonight—into the quiet warmth that steadies me, into the promise that You are my refuge and my portion. In this gentle hour of watching and waiting, let my soul find its rest in You alone.

Amen.

May the peace of the Holy One shelter us through the night, guiding every heart with steadfast light until a new dawn of hope awakens.
