Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
December 7, 2025
“In days to come the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised up above the hills. Peoples shall stream to it, and many nations shall come and say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.” — Micah-4:1–2
Lord,
As this Second Sunday of Advent dawns, I come before You in the quiet stillness of the morning, my heart lifted like the hills that rise toward the mountain of the Lord. In this gentle light, I long for Your promised restoration—for the day when all nations stream toward Your presence to learn Your ways and walk in Your paths. Let that longing begin in me. Teach me Your instruction that goes forth from Zion; write Your wisdom upon my spirit so that each step I take today is shaped by Your truth and guided by Your peace.
Awaken in me a deeper hope as I wait for Your coming. In this soft moment before the world fully stirs, let my soul be attentive to You. Draw me toward Your higher way, where weapons of division become tools of healing, and where every path leads toward reconciliation and grace. Form my thoughts, my actions, and my desires so that I may walk in the light You send into the world.
Lord, as the nations seek Your guidance in the vision of Micah, so I seek it now. Lead me up the mountain of Your presence and let Your peace settle over me like the calm morning air. Shape my heart to welcome You anew this Advent, and let my life reflect the hope of the One who is coming to make all things new.
Amen.
May the hope, peace, and guiding light of the coming Christ lead us all to walk faithfully in God’s ways throughout this Advent day.
