Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

January 27, 2026

“And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.” — Philippians 1:9–11

Lord,

As the sun sinks into the western horizon and the twilight settles over the Florida Mountains, I come to You in the quiet. The vast, darkening sky reminds me of my smallness, and the dormant winter earth speaks of a season of waiting. In this stillness, I ask that my love would not remain stagnant, but that it would overflow with knowledge and depth of insight, just as the hidden roots beneath this dry soil deepen in search of water.

In the face of my own weakness and the uncertainties of this new year, I lean not on my own understanding but on Your sustaining power. Help me to discern what truly matters in the midst of the shadows, trusting that You are cultivating a harvest of righteousness within me that I cannot yet see. Where I feel the fragility of my own resolve, remind me that You are the one who begins a good work and brings it to completion, glowing bright against the dark backdrop of a winter night.

As I prepare for rest, I place my confidence in Your ability to bring profound change from small, faithful beginnings. Keep me pure and blameless, guarded by a peace that surpasses the cold outside my window, so that I may rise tomorrow ready to live to Your glory and praise. Let this night be a sanctuary where my faith is renewed, and my hope is anchored securely in You.

Amen.

May the peace of God guard our hearts and minds tonight, that we may rest in the sure hope that He is faithfully bringing to completion the good work begun in us all.
