Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
February 6, 2026
“I will exult and rejoice in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have taken heed of my adversities.” — Psalm 31:7
Lord of all creation,
As the Friday sun sinks low and the chill of February settles over the Mimbres Valley, I pause to rest in Your presence. To the east, the rugged peaks of the Florida Mountains catch the last bruised purples of twilight, standing firm against the darkening sky. The week has been long, and like the high desert winter that strips the mesquite bare, I feel exposed and weary, acutely aware of my human frailty. Yet, in this silence, I find a strange comfort in knowing that You are as constant as the ground beneath my feet, waiting to meet me in the stillness.
You have seen the depths of my heart, noting every hidden anxiety and every quiet struggle that I often hide from the world. I rejoice that I do not have to carry these burdens alone, for Your steadfast love surrounds me even when the night feels coldest. Where I see only weakness and limitation, teach me to trust in Your limitless power to redeem and restore. Kindle a fire of deeper faith within me, that I might look upon my own adversities not as evidence of abandonment, but as the very places where Your mercy draws nearest to sustain me.
As the desert wind whispers against the window, I place my hope in Your ability to bring life from what seems dormant and small. Just as the dry earth waits for the spring rain, I wait on You with a quiet confidence, believing that You are already cultivating growth in the unseen places of my life. Guard my rest this night, and let me wake with a spirit refreshed and ready to serve, trusting that even the smallest act of obedience is held securely in Your gracious hands.
Amen.
May the God who knows every struggle and sustains all creation wrap us in steadfast love tonight, granting every heart a peaceful rest and the promise of new hope in the morning.
