Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

February 7, 2026

“…but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 3:13b-14

Lord,

As the high desert air turns crisp and the last light fades from the rugged peaks of the Florida Mountains to the east, I pause at the close of this week to find my rest in You. The February wind carries a stillness that settles over the valley, a quiet reminder of the dormant life waiting beneath the hard, dry earth. In this silence, I lay down the burdens of the past few days, releasing the stumbles and the weariness that cling to my spirit, and I turn my face toward the promise of Your presence which holds me fast even in the deepening chill of the night.

You know the longing within me to leave behind what is finished and to press on toward a deeper, more resilient faith. My own strength often feels small, like a scattered seed lost in the vastness of this twilight, yet I trust that Your power is active in my hesitation and weakness. Grant me the courage to step into the open, leaving the shadows of regret and uncertainty behind, believing that You are cultivating growth in the unseen places of my heart just as surely as You prepare the desert for its coming bloom.

As the stars begin to fill the vast New Mexico sky, I anchor my hope not in my own striving, but in the steady, upward call of Your love. Let this Friday evening be a threshold of renewal, where I surrender my need for control and embrace a quiet confidence in Your ability to bring new life from the smallest of beginnings. Keep my eyes fixed on the path ahead, so that I may rise with the morning sun, ready to walk with purpose and a heart fully surrendered to Your transforming grace.

Amen.

May the God of new beginnings hold us all in the quiet of this night, granting us peace for our rest and the shared courage to step forward into the light of a new day.
