Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
February 4, 2026
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” — John 14:6
Lord God,
As the last light of this February Wednesday fades, I turn my gaze toward the Florida Mountains standing stark against the eastern sky. The high desert air is crisp and cold tonight, settling over Deming with a silence that invites me to pause and listen. In this stillness, I feel the weight of the week and the smallness of my own understanding, yet I know that You are present in this vast landscape. I come to You with a longing to move beyond my own wandering and to find the steady ground that only You can provide, trusting that even in the dormancy of winter, You are preparing the earth and my heart for something new.
You are the true path when the world feels disoriented and dark, and I confess that I often rely on my own frail power rather than leaning into Your strength. My vision is limited, often obscured by the shadows of uncertainty and the fatigue of the day, but I ask You to be the light that pierces through my doubt. Where I feel weak and incapable of change, remind me that Your power is not restricted by my limitations. Help me to surrender my need to control the outcome and instead embrace the truth that You are working in ways I cannot see, guiding me through the complexities of life with a wisdom that far exceeds my own.
As I prepare to rest, I place my trust in Your ability to bring life from even the smallest seeds of faith I offer. Just as this desert waits patiently for the eventual return of spring, let me wait with quiet confidence on Your timing, believing that You are cultivating growth within me. Wash away the anxieties of today and replace them with a steadfast hope for the morning, knowing that because You are the life, no darkness is permanent and no path is too difficult when walked with You.
Amen.
May the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life wrap us all in peace tonight, guiding every heart through the darkness and into a dawn of shared hope.
