Held in the Hollow: A Pastoral Theology of Weakness

I am grateful to share my book, Held in the Hollow: A Pastoral Theology of Weakness, along with the video trailer I created for it.

This book was written for those seasons when strength feels thin, prayers feel heavy, and the soul is learning how to trust God from a place of weakness rather than confidence. Many people know what it is to walk through pain, grief, uncertainty, weariness, illness, loss, or spiritual dryness. In those hollow places, we may wonder whether God is distant, disappointed, or silent. Yet Scripture teaches us that the Lord often meets His people most tenderly in the very places where they feel weakest.

Held in the Hollow is a warm, Scripture-centered, pastoral reflection on the grace of God in human weakness. It is not a book about pretending to be strong. It is about discovering that weakness is not the absence of God’s care. Sometimes it becomes the very place where His mercy holds us, His Word sustains us, and His strength is made known.

This book is for believers who are tired, grieving, struggling, or learning to live faithfully through hard seasons. It is also for pastors, chaplains, caregivers, ministry leaders, and friends who walk beside others in sorrow. My prayer is that these pages will offer comfort, clarity, and hope to those who need to be reminded that they are not abandoned in the hollow places of life.

The Christian life is not always lived on the mountaintop. Sometimes it is lived in the valley, in the waiting, in the quiet, and in the weakness. But even there, we are held by the faithful love of God.
